The 2024 Annual General Assembly of ICOMOS will convene in the historic city of Ouro Preto Brazil, from November 10 to 17. Declaration on the protection of archives, libraries, museums and heritage places during armed conflicts and political instability
As we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention, the International Council of Archives (ICA), the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) express their deep concern about the escalating destruction of life and cultural heritage.
Amund Sinding-Larsen receives 2020 Gazzola Prize medal
After being virtually awarded the Gazzola Prize in 2020, Amund Sinding-Larsen was finally handed the prestigious medal on May 6, in a ceremony organised by ICOMOS and hosted in his honour by the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Norway to UNESCO.
Amund Sinding-Larsen is considered a leading figure within the field of rights-based approaches in cultural heritage and the integration of human dignity into heritage practices.
Heritage Alert Vingen Rock Art Area
ICOMOS, together with its Norwegian National Committee and the International Scientific Committee on Rock Art (ISC-CAR), is issuing a Heritage Alert, to stop the planned stone quarry on Aksla mountain, close to the Vingen rock art area, that will damage this remarkable site and its pristine surrounding landscape, unchanged for over 6000 years. Thousands of petroglyphs from the Stone Age can be found in the area, providing unique insights into past narratives.
Apply to the ICOMOS Culture-Nature Prize: deadline extended to 16 June 2024
ICOMOS is launching the 2nd edition of the ICOMOS Culture-Nature Prize, which will be awarded to support the most promising Culture-Nature initiatives undertaken by ICOMOS members. The 2024 edition is funded by funded by Giving Tuesday donations received in 2022.

ICOMOS Scientific Symposium 2024: The call for abstracts is extended until 15 June 2024!
This year, the ICOMOS Advisory Committee will organise its Scientific Symposium in Ouro Preto, Brazil, from 13 to 15 November 2024 on the theme "Revisiting the Venice Charter: Critical Perspectives and Contemporary Challenges."
